More of Alice

Finally!  A photo with her eyes open.

Aren't little baby feet just the sweetest thing?

Sisters, sisters, there were never more devoted sisters

Olivia was all a-twitter today because her sister is coming home from the hospital.  She's also getting a special treat after school.  As it turns out, a friend of mine from Beginning Experience works at Olivia's school and has gotten to know Olivia.  So she suggested an outing after school today for a treat.  It should be great fun!

Here's a photo from the hospital the afternoon after Alice was born.  I think it's just the most precious picture in the world.  I think you'll agree.

Deja Boo!

There's a new kid in town and her name is Alice Catherine.  She was born at 2:19 a.m. on October 31, which makes her our little Halloween baby.  She weighed in at 7 pounds and 13 ounces, just like her big sister Olivia, but she's about 3/4 of an inch shorter.

Here she is right after birth and a bath.

And here she is about 12 hours old.

Grammy got to hold her and rock her for a long time.  I'd forgotten just how sweet a newborn is.

And here is big sister Olivia getting her first look at her new baby sister.  The only thing that lured her away from the hospital was trick or treating.

And here she is right before heading out to gather her loot.  I stayed at the house and handed out candy.  We had quite a crowd.  I'd forgotten how much fun Halloween is.  I don't get trick or treaters at my apartment.  :-(

And just for the sake of comparison, here's a photo of Olivia as a newborn.  I think there's a resemblance.  One thing's for sure:  my son and daughter-in-law sure do make beautiful babies.

First grade art

Olivia said this about her artwork, "This is my line drawing of the artist Michelangelo."

I don't know about you, but I'm impressed!

1st Day of 1st Grade

How on earth did she get to be six years old?  But isn't she cute all dressed up and ready for her first day?

The Olympics -- Olivia Style

The London Olympics of 2012 are over, and what a great Olympics they were.  We saw so many great athletic feats, heard so many stories of overcoming adversity and witnessed my favorite movie hero, 007, fetching the Queen from Buckingham Palace and escorting her to Olympic Stadium.

But I digress.

You are now about to witness the Olympic Games as interpreted by Olivia.  In this short film she is not only athlete, but sportscaster and slow-motion commentator too.

You'll probably have to turn your sound all the way up because the sound quality isn't great, but you'll get the gist of it.

Sit back and enjoy.

Now We Are Six

When I was in first grade, my teacher, Miss Laura Gillon, taught us this poem by A.A. Milne.

When I was one, I had just begun.
When I was two, I was nearly new.
When I was three, I was hardly me.
When I was four, I was not much more.
When I was five, I was just alive.
But now I am six, I'm as clever as clever.
So I think I'll be six now and forever.

Now Olivia is six! And here are a few photos from her birthday party.

Cake!

A new bike!

Jumping fun in the backyard for all the party guests!

And who better to jump in a castle than Rapunzel?

Liv and Grammy enjoying a hug!

Story Time

Olivia is in kindergarten and treated me to a story when I visited this weekend.

Settle back and listen to one of my favorites.

Trick or Treat

I've known for a while but couldn't announce it yet.

Now I can.

Miss O is going to be a big sister around November first.

No tricks here. Definitely a treat.

Tiger, Tiger

I've been a bad Grammy, I know. I had photos from Christmas I intended to post and then injuries from a serious auto accident on December 30 sort of put everything else on the back burner. I'm still in recovery mode but am getting close to being all healed up.

But... thanks to my daughter-in-law and her sister, I have some new photos of Miss O.

This first set is from last weekend at the Earth Day Festival in Auburn, Alabama. That's a special festival for the kids for several reasons. They are environmentally conscious, but it's also where they met and where Ryan proposed several years later.

And here's my little tiger.

And thanks to Aunt Farah, here are a couple photos from several weeks ago when Olivia and her cousins Waylon and Wyatt played at their other grandmother's house.

P.S. I've also added more of Olivia's school art to the Kindergarten Art page. Check it out!
